What Is Breast Implant Illness (BII)?

Breast Implant Illness, or BII, is a term patients and physicians use to describe a range of systemic symptoms some people develop after receiving breast implants — silicone or saline, smooth or textured. BII is not currently classified as a single, officially recognized medical diagnosis; researchers and the FDA are still working to understand its causes, and some experts believe it may be linked to an autoimmune or inflammatory response.
